Composite Bonding

£395

Composite bonding is also more commonly known as ‘Tooth bonding’. Tooth bonding, as the name suggests, is a procedure where your dentist would apply a tooth-coloured composite resin to one or more of your teeth to repair any damage and improve the overall appearance.’ Extremely cost-effective as compared to crowns and veneers, composite bonding is the perfect solution in case of a chipped, cracked, or discoloured tooth.

Process

  • Tooth bonding is simpler, completed in one sitting and usually doesn’t require anaesthesia. It’s like placing a covering on the damaged tooth.
  • The  Dentist uses a shade guide to choose a composite resin colour that closely matches the colour of your natural teeth.
  • Once the tooth is cleaned, a liquid is applied that allows the bonding agent to stick to the tooth.
  • The  Dentist then applies the composite resin over the liquid, moulds or shapes the tooth, and then stabilise the material with ultraviolet light.
  • If necessary, your dentist can further shape the tooth after the resin hardens.

Benefits

Tooth bonding has multiple benefits. Apart from being wallet-friendly, it can be used to

  • Fix a defect or imperfection within a tooth
  • Repair a decayed, cracked, or discoloured tooth.
  • Close small gaps between the teeth.
  • Increase the size of a tooth as compared to the rest of the teeth

More importantly, bonding is usually done in one clinic visit unless several teeth are involved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Composite bonding is the perfect solution to several dental problems. They include misshapen teeth, misaligned teeth, cracked teeth, chipped teeth, decayed teeth, stained teeth and gaps between teeth.

Compared to other dental treatments like veneers and dental implants, dental bonding is easy and pocket friendly. Completed in one sitting, it does not require anaesthesia usually.

Bonded teeth must be taken care of exactly like natural teeth. Brushing, flossing and regular dental check-up every 6 months are recommended.

The  Dentists uses a composite resin material for bonding that will match the closest shade of your teeth.

The material used for composite bonding is quite stain-resistant however not as well as crowns or veneers. The longevity is limited as compared to other restorative materials.

Post composite bonding patients are asked to come to the  Clinic for two polishing sessions. It is to ensure that the surface of the tooth is smooth and does not permit any food/ plaque accumulation. Once the procedure is completed, based on the advice of the  Dentist, the patient can:

– Eat or drink right away.

– Avoid food and drinks that can stain the teeth and avoid certain habits such as biting on fingernails, pen caps, pens, pencils and other hard objects that can wear down the bonding material and tooth enamel over time.

– A regular visit to the  Dentist is recommended.

Recently my 62 year old ‘milk tooth’ broke off leaving me with the dread of having the root taken out. Manish was amazing, knowing me from previous treatments, he explained that he would build a new tooth on the remains of my old one. The work was done in an hour, the result was amazing, I couldn’t tell the difference from the one next to it. No pain, no stress and truly wonderful just before Christmas to have my smile back. Manish is an amazing person and outstanding dentist. I have no hesitation in recommending the services of Dental Concepts to anyone, especially nervous patients or anxious patients.

Phoned in an emergency after extreme pain and my regular dentist not caring that 4 more days was unmanageable, having rang several others that only seemed concerned about booking me in for a check. To my delight and suprise this was no problem for them. Their only concern was that I was in extreme pain and despite anti biotics and pain killers this had not subsided for 72 hours, I was asked to come in immediately for an x ray and immediate extraction. No one like the dentist but I officially love this team now, I will be recommending it to family, friends and all those who read this review.
