Process

Within the first visit, our Dentist examines and prepares the tooth that needs the crown. This might involve taking X-rays of the tooth. Dental Concepts will take any digital pictures of the patient’s mouth and create the crown within the surgery premises.Once the tooth is filed, a temporary crown is placed to protect it. The impression of the tooth is shipped to the lab. In the second visit, once the crown is ready, the dentist cements it into place. The entire process takes about 2 to 4 hours.

Benefits with Dental Concepts

We are happy to assist you and provide flexible finance options so that you can begin your smile journey immediately.

Over some time, your teeth may get damaged and this may happen due to various reasons namely, tooth decay, injuries or lack of dental hygiene. As a result, teeth may lose their shape or size. Dental crowns are the perfect solution as these are tooth-shaped “caps” that can be placed over your tooth to restore the shape, size and appearance of the tooth.

Dental crowns are used as caps on missing or fractured tooth to protect the life of your teeth typically in situations to:

  • Protect or restore a tooth from fracturing due to accident or trauma
  • Replace a tooth that is too large for a filling
  • Get a cap over the Implant placed
  • Restore the tooth on which RCT was performed
  • Cover discoloured, misshaped or badly formed tooth
  • Hold a dental bridge in place

In addition, the Dental Crown gives your tooth strength, shape, size and overall improves the appearance of your tooth. Avoid delaying the process of a dental crown in case it has been advised by the Dentist else there may be chances that you can damage your tooth to the extent that extraction is the last resort.

Dental Crowns can be made using various materials like:

Metal Crowns: These are considered the most durable solution for the long term. The gold crowns in these are the most used and bond well with the tooth. These can even withstand hard chewing forces and biting. Being stronger they last longer and do not wear down easily. The only drawback is that they are visible from a distance hence, suitable only for molars.

Porcelain-Fused-To-Metal These are the answers to all aesthetic concerns. The inside is made up of metal and the outer portion of the crown is made of porcelain, as a result, it has the dual advantage – a metal provides strength and porcelain matches with the colour of the teeth making it look like natural teeth.

Ceramic Crown These crowns match the strength of metal crowns and blend naturally with the tooth colour. It does not have any aesthetic concerns and is the best option for the front, back and even for the bridges. The problem of porcelain wearing down and metal being visible is solved by this Dental Crown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental Crowns may be more expensive than fillings, but they have the advantage of lasting longer. Please connect with the Dental Concepts Dentist to address any concerns/clarifications.

Depending on several factors that include the case specifics, material, and compliance to oral hygiene routines, dental crowns may last anywhere between 5 to 15 years. We advise our patients to maintain their oral hygiene after implantation of the dental crown and reach out to the Dental Concepts Dentist for any concerns/clarifications.

The Dental Concepts Dentists administer local anaesthesia before the treatment process. Therefore it may not hurt during that time. However, once the anaesthesia wears off, the feeling of soreness and sensitivity in the gums is usual for some time.

Root Canal Treatment (RCT) means that the pulp inside the tooth will be cleared out. Therefore to provide strength after filling up the cavity, a crown after RCT is a must.

Please ensure that you maintain good oral hygiene and visit your Dental Concepts Dentist regularly.

  1. Be careful while brushing your teeth.
  2. Brush your teeth twice a day
  3. Use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth if your crown or the teeth around it are sensitive to heat or cold or as advised by the Dental Concepts.
  4. Flossing daily can help keep all your teeth in good health.
  5. Avoid hard foods. Chewing ice or hard foods might cause your crown to crack, especially if you have a porcelain crown.
  6. If you grind or clench your teeth at night, your Dentist may recommend a night guard to protect your crown and surrounding teeth.

Recently my 62 year old ‘milk tooth’ broke off leaving me with the dread of having the root taken out. Manish was amazing, knowing me from previous treatments, he explained that he would build a new tooth on the remains of my old one. The work was done in an hour, the result was amazing, I couldn’t tell the difference from the one next to it. No pain, no stress and truly wonderful just before Christmas to have my smile back. Manish is an amazing person and outstanding dentist. I have no hesitation in recommending the services of Dental Concepts to anyone, especially nervous patients or anxious patients.

Phoned in an emergency after extreme pain and my regular dentist not caring that 4 more days was unmanageable, having rang several others that only seemed concerned about booking me in for a check. To my delight and suprise this was no problem for them. Their only concern was that I was in extreme pain and despite anti biotics and pain killers this had not subsided for 72 hours, I was asked to come in immediately for an x ray and immediate extraction. No one like the dentist but I officially love this team now, I will be recommending it to family, friends and all those who read this review.
