Emergency Dentist Andover Whitchurch Hampshire

Dear Patient,

The health, wellbeing and safety of our patients, their families and our people is our utmost priority and always will be.

As you are aware, the COVID-19 situation changes daily, and new information is always being released. The Government guidance for dentistry is no different – and is constantly being updated to reflect the latest situation to ensure people are kept safe and well.

Accessing Dental Care –

– Following recent guidance from NHS England and the Department of Health, dental practices have been advised to Stop Aerosol Sprays and Prioritise Urgent Treatment.
– As well as reducing risk to staff and patients, this will also prevent unnecessary travel in an attempt to reduce virus transmission.

We understand the importance of offering a healthcare service to our patients, so in line with recent Government advice, we are ensuring that we are available to offer telephone support and advice to patients with urgent need.

With this in mind, we have carefully considered the advice given by the Government and the NHS, regarding Covid-19, to create a system of providing care to our patients depending upon the severity of the dental problem.

Dental Concepts offers Remote Advice and Consultation to all our patients and people in the community. However, this is applicable if you have a dental emergency. All routine, non-urgent dental care including Invisalign has been stopped and deferred until advised otherwise.

    1. Triage and Consultation with Dentist on Audio / Video Call

Our practice has established a remote urgent care service, providing telephone triage for our patients with urgent needs during reduced working hours, and whenever possible treating with:
    – Advice
    – Analgesia (pain relief)
    – Antimicrobial means where appropriate (antibiotics)

We are also providing Prescription by Post service where any medicines prescribed by the dentist triaging a patient on a call, will be sent to the patient’s residence by post. So, you can stay home and stay safe. The patient will need to pay for the prescription as appropriate and the Triage consultation may also be charged with a flat fee of £25. All payments can be made using a secure Payment link sent online or by Bank Transfer.

    2. Urgent Dental Centre Referral

If the patient’s condition cannot be managed by these means, then they will need to be referred to the most appropriate support location if further care is needed. These are called Urgent Dental Centres (UDC) designated by the NHS and Public Health England which are close to the practice.

These are created to help patients who need urgent dental care by dentists and specialists while using the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (which as we know is in short supply, hence the referral)

Once the dentist has consulted, he / she will refer the patient to the UDC if needed. Once referred, the UDC will call the patient to triage again and book the urgent appointment.

    3. Dental Emergency – A&E

For any situations needing emergency intervention, We will referral the patients to the A&E for swift care and treatment.
